Join Lori & Eric for an afternoon of Sound Healing, and Reiki. Reiki Master - Eric will infuse healing energy and vibration into each guest creating a unique and rejuvenating healing experience. Lori will play instruments and guide you through relaxing yoga stretches and meditation in order to help you relax deeper.
What exactly is a sound bath?
Using crystal sound bowls, Rain Sticks, Chimes, Ocean Drum and Shamanic Drum we will create a sound bath experience by vibrating the bowls, chimes and drum with hypnotic tones and bouts of silence; thus, allowing your body to relax and giving you the ability to connect with your inner peace. In essence, as you relax, your body is covered in a blanket of sound through the various acoustic instruments being played.
What to bring
Blankets will be provided, but you should bring your yoga mat. Also, our bodies tend to cool down as we enter meditative states so it is suggested that you dress warm and comfortably or have the option to cover yourself with an additional layer.
Sound therapy is a powerful tool for healing your cells at a DNA level. Your body is made up of 60% of water and because water is a great conductor for sound, the vibrations penetrate deep within and create enough resonance for your cells to restructure themselves to their ideal state.
Is there science behind Sound Baths?
Sound healing and therapy have existed since ancient times. In ancient Greece music was used to treat mental illness. The Australian Aboriginal people, for 40,000 years, used the didgeridoo for sound healing, and in Tibet the singing bowls have been part of spiritual ceremonies for many many years.
The connection between sound and healing was chronicled in 1896 when American physicians discovered that certain types of music improved thought processes and spurred blood flow. This paved the way for creating new therapies with sound and treating a variety of illnesses. Sound therapy has evolved and morphed into many forms of healing that we see today but the fact the sound helps one heal still remains true.
What do the experts say?
Marlynn Wei, M.D., J.D., a board-certified Harvard and Yale trained psychiatrist and therapist, suggests that sound healing has ancient roots in cultures all over the world. Sound healing is a form of focused awareness. The frequency at which sound bowls resonate through the body allows for higher levels of inner peace and relaxation. - Psychology Today
